Branding: The Language Scholar

How do you make a tutor sound fun?

Ask Robert Frost.

In creating a business identity for The Language Scholar, we had to defy the expectation that an academic trainer was dull and serious. But we also had to make sure clients knew they were dealing with a qualified person.

We were led by Robert Frost: “All the fun's in how you say a thing.

The branding, logo, postcard, business card and website needed to say: here's a pro with experience, and yet she's personable, curious, and enthusiastic. She's what she expects her students to become. And what better symbol than a book—the trainer's own book about herself, a book poking fun at itself, which become the unifying design theme.

The other factor was the client's tight budget. At each step in the design and printing process, we carefully monitored costs to make sure they stayed in line with the budget of a business startup.
